Over the summer the eye-catching 60-metre AMELS superyacht EVENT has cut a striking profile against the Hong Kong skyline. AMELS delivered the Limited Editions yacht in 2013 and she is now based in Hong Kong with a new owner. Captain Ross Haerle kindly shares his thoughts about cruising in Asia.
"Superyachts are not a new thing in Asia, more and more are making their way here each season," he states. "But it's still fertile ground for change and, I hope, a development opportunity for forward-thinking companies and individuals.
"When I was asked to continue as Captain on EVENT after her sale to an Asian client - destination Hong Kong - I jumped at the chance. I knew back then, whilst sitting in Antibes, that EVENT would cut a striking presence cruising in Victoria Harbour or anchored out in Repulse Bay."
A true headturner, EVENT is one of the world's highest profile superyachts. Following her delivery, EVENT's avant-garde Tim Heywood design wowed the superyacht community and she went on to win the World Superyacht Award.
"As I write this, currently anchored in Repulse Bay," Captain Haerle continues, "with the laughter of guests resonating from the dining room to my rather fortuitously placed office by the large 'Tim Heywood' windows, I know that I made the right decision. As did the Owner by all accounts - he seems to be a very happy man."
